Direct assessment represents an exciting new approach in higher education to increase flexibility while at the same time ensuring high-quality through robust curricular design and approaches to assessment. Still, in its infancy, direct assessment programs have been developed and offered at the associate, bachelor’s and master’s levels across an array of disciplines. This webinar will give participants an understanding of the landscape of these programs across the country. In addition, we will explore the regulatory and accreditation issues related to the direct assessment model. Finally, key challenges and opportunities related to the academic model, faculty roles, and systems infrastructure will be discussed. Participants will gain insight into this model and be in a better position to assess the fit of direct assessment with the mission and culture of their institution. The webinar will be led by Dr. Dick Senese, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer for Capella University, the first institution in the nation approved to offer both bachelor’s and master’s degrees through a direct assessment model known as FlexPath.
