STARLINK Basics

What is STARLINK?

STARLINK was established in 1989 with a Perkins State Leadership grant. Since its founding, STARLINK has been committed to empowering student success and providing exceptional professional development to higher education communities. Our online courses allow staff, faculty, adjuncts, and CEOs to take responsibility for their growth and development, giving them the ability to personalize their learning with on-demand courses. STARLINK provides courses that maintain academic rigor, technical knowledge and skill sets which drive positive growth. STARLINK offers members a personalized dashboard to track training and 24/7 access to over 200 hours of professional development training through its eLibrary. New courses, features, and webinars are released monthly.

STARLINK currently provides professional development programming annually to member colleges and universities across the United States, Canada, and throughout the world through U.S. Military and embassies. STARLINK, empowering student success!

How do I register?

  1. Go to the STARLINK Homepage
  2. On the menu at the top, you will see a dropdown named Get Started, click it.
  3. On the dropdown you will see a choice of First Time User, that is where you will want to register your account for the first time. Make sure to use your institutions .edu email address.
  4. Enjoy the courses!

How do I login?

  1. Go to the STARLINK Homepage
  2. In the upper right hand corner you will see a green button labeled Members Area, this area can always be used to login or access your members area after logging in
  3. Once you click the Members Area button, you should see a login screen popup. Please input your institution email and the password you used on sign up.
  4. Enjoy the courses!

How do I reset my password?

  1. Go to the STARLINK Homepage
  2. In the upper right hand corner you will see a green button labeled Members Area. Click the link at the bottom of the login popup labeled "→ Forgot your password? Reset here"
  3. After being redirected to the password reset page, make sure you enter your email in the correct form. The first box is for the members, most will use this form. If you're the STARLINK representative for your institution, you will need to use the second box.
  4. Once you've entered your email address, a reset email will be sent to you.
  5. In the email you can click, or copy and paste the link into your web browser. After doing this a second email containing your new temporary password will be sent to you.
  6. Copy this new temporary password (Be careful not to copy any extra spaces!) and click the link in that email to go directly to the login page. Here you can enter your account email and paste your new temporary password.
  7. After logging in you will be redirected to the members area. Here you can click on My Account and enter a new unique password. Make sure to click Edit to save your password!
  8. Enjoy the courses!

How do I view analytics?

  1. Go to the STARLINK Homepage and login
  2. In the members area, click the dashboard icon () to go to the manager dashboard
  3. Here you will have to option of three different types of reports, your main focus will be My Groups:
    • My Groups
    • Clicking the 'My Groups' option will give you options to download reports on all of your groups users, all of your groups courses, or a report on a specific course.
  4. To download the report, click on the download 'cloud' button.SkyPrep Download Icon
    The report will be generated and emailed to your email address used to login. In the email you will receive two links, one to download the report and one to preview the report online.


Troubleshooting

Seeing a second login screen.

    Sometimes after logging in and clicking on a course or your dashboard, you may see another login screen asking for your username and password. (see below) This can sometimes happen when pages don't fully load and you aren't fully logged in. Alternative Login Screen
  1. You can simply refresh the page by clicking the circle arrow at the top of you browser. It often looks something like this: refresh button
  2. Alternatively you can try clicking Log Out in the top right hand corner and logging back in. Make sure to let all pages finish loading before moving on.
