Presenters: Sam Hostetler

This course is worth 1 hour (0.1 CEU) of professional development. A certificate of completion can be printed once the program has been completed.

About this Course
In this learning module, you will learn about strategies for classroom teachers that will make your classroom a more welcoming and supportive environment for all learners. Overcoming the Achievement Gap often feels like something so big that classroom teachers can feel powerless. While major systemic change is needed, classroom teachers can use research-based strategies to increase the achievement and well-being of their diverse students; this module covers many of those strategies.

By the end of this learning module, the learner will be able to:

• Define what the Opportunity Gap is
• Explain multiple strategies that can be used in the classroom to help culturally, racially and linguistically diverse students succeed
• Evaluate one's own classroom for barriers that might exist and create a plan of action to address those barriers
